This new theory offers the possibility to consider the shape, position, movement, and environment on the gravitational effect of the masses. The contents of this book will have consequences in stronomy, geology, climatology, as well as other physical sciences such as light, capillarity, diffusion etc. The presented theory deserves to be further researched and developed. The author (1943) came to Germany after graduating from high school (1961) in Istanbul, studied mechanical engineering in Karlsruhe (KIT), where he also worked in industrial research and development until 2010. During this time, he lectured at the Universities of Karlsruhe and Kaiserslautern while researcing gravitation as a hobby. That is why he writes in such a way that it should be understandable, verifiable, calculable and applicable for laypersons as well as specialists.

Bedrettin Dalan, founder and director of the ISTEK Foundation and Yeditepe University in Istanbul, stayed in Germany for a number of years. In his discussions with the author, who was a close friend, he recognized the importance of his thesis and prompted him to write about it. He also made it possible for this book to be published by his university’s publishing house. Without his commitment this book would not have been possible.

In this book conifers and their allies and Palms will be studied. Broadleaves will be studied in the book’s Volume II. Landscape architects have to know about trees and shrubs, but the students of landscape architecture are not going to be botanists. They do not need to know details of microscopic characteristics that are not visible to the naked eye. For that reason, general botanical features of plants for identification will be explained and growing conditions and ecological characteristics of woody plants and palms will be studied in this book. According to the botanical definition, Palms are not trees but they are as tall as trees, and in fact they are large herbs. Some palm species are very important and striking tall plants, so palms are also included and studied in this book. A landscape architect should know about one thousand tree and shrub species and their forms, varieties and cultivars. More than one thousand woody plant species have been used for landscape planning in Turkey for years and the new species which are native to Turkey or exotic species are being added to this big amount of number of trees and shrubs. It is impossible for a landscape archi­tect for the best designing and planning of a landscape area without having the identification knowledge of plants, and the growing characteristics of plants.
